Fine art

Protecting your masterpieces.

Art is more than beautiful creations — it preserves history, culture and passion. We cover your collection with the same dedication you have invested in it.

Whether your collection brings together paintings, contemporary sculpture, photography, antique furniture or silverware, our cover adapts to the historical, sentimental and financial value of each piece.

We support appraisal, periodic revaluation, international transport, museum and gallery loans, restoration, and ultimately sale or transmission. Our specialists work hand in hand with restorers, galleries and auction houses.

Item-by-item insurance, agreed value, no excess on major works — so the unexpected never undoes a lifetime of collecting.

Private ConversationsDavid Nahmad × IFO Global· Art Basel 2026

A few confidences from David Nahmad.

During a private interview, David Nahmad generously shared a few memories and anecdotes. Here are some excerpts.

Behind the scenes

IFO Global at Art Basel 2026.

A moment captured between two private conversations, in the heart of the fair — where the gaze, the acquisitions and the legacies of great collections come together.

“The first painting I bought is a painting I never meant to buy.”

At an auction at Palais Galliera, a Bernard Buffet is attributed to him by mistake. Too embarrassed to correct the misunderstanding, he leaves with the work — one he didn't even like.

“I'm looking for a Picasso that matches my carpet.”

One day, a client walks into his New York gallery with an unusual request: a Picasso to match her carpet. David Nahmad simply advised her to change the carpet…

“This painting is not for sale in my lifetime. After my death, anything is possible.”

On his first visit to the Kahnweiler gallery in 1966, David Nahmad spotted a version of Picasso's Déjeuner sur l'herbe. Twenty-six years later, the gallery called back. He bought the work for 12 million francs.

IFO Global Report 2026

What great collections reveal.

During our exchange, David Nahmad recalled several incidents during museum loans — a Max Ernst damaged on installation, a Miró deteriorated during an exhibition. One conclusion stands out: gaps between an artwork's real value and the value stated in the policy can have major consequences.

+60%

of collections are under-insured*

  • An artwork's value can double or triple within five years.
  • 68% of collectors prefer private transactions.
  • Collections are spread across 3 to 7 locations on average.
  • A value not refreshed today can become a major issue tomorrow.
